A gentle, sweet soul, avid runner, soon-to-be-college graduate!, kind-hearted, beautiful friend and sister in Christ, Heaton O’Hara, has been a Brown Horse Projects’ supporter and trip participant for several years. She shared her keen fashion sense and design eye with us when hand-dying tote bags last summer and describes what sharing of her gift of time and energy both here and abroad has meant. Thanks for sharing Heaton in our Abide in Love: Team Stories.
I have been to Barahona in the Dominican Republic twice now. The work that Brown Horse Projects does there is important and loving. Love and Respect have always been at the forefront of our mission. Through medicine, art and music Brown Horse brings people together. Last summer we tie-dyed tote bags to raise money for our missions on the island of Hispaniola. That small project was a huge example of how well art connects people. Our medical mission allows people who need medical attention to come get the help they need, while our art and music mission allows us to connect with people as well, both here and abroad. I know we are all excited to bring this joy to the island of Hispaniola.
