Young patient sees results from treatment of basic medications

This patient presented to the clinic with family complaining of itching and rash all over his body. Mom denied any fevers. She stated the patient was eating like normal. Denies similar rash in any other family members. Multiple excoriated lesions were seen on the patient's trunk.

He was diagnosed with impetigo and treated with Amoxicillin and Benadryl to help with the itching. He was also given Vitamin C and multivitamins to help battle any underlying malnutrition.

After eight days, the lesions were completely dry. We have now started him on a topical antifungal cream to help with the secondary fungal infection and will wait to see how it will heal. The fungus prevents the skin from tanning which is why the areas appear light in color compared to the surrounding skin.
